It feels as if every New Year sees petrol prices soar and this worrying trend has certainly not been bucked in the opening weeks of 2012. The average cost of unleaded petrol is currently over five pence more expensive per litre than it was this time twelve months ago. With reports that a major refinery in Essex may be forced to shut before February, those living in the South East of England are facing the possibility of even greater fuel costs in the near future.

Getting the right amount of the right vitamins at the right time can be difficult. Accomplishing the task of putting in everything we need into our system can be time consuming and costly. For a generally healthy person who wants to ensure they are getting everything they need, there is an easier solution.

Getting Caught Up in the Supplement Hype

We are inundated with advertisements telling us that we need to take this supplement and that supplement, and then don’t forget this other supplement. These marketers are good at leading us to believe that we absolutely need what it is that they are selling. It is easy to get caught up in this due to the fact that they promise beneficial payoffs of leading a healthier life. Although many supplements can help to give you more essential vitamins, there may be an easier way.

Look Naturally

Looking naturally is not to say to only get natural supplements for your vitamin intake. Looking naturally means looking to nature. Take a look at that fruits, veggies and nuts you have in your garden and/or kitchen. These foods contain more than what we think when it comes to essential vitamins.

Why Vitamins Are So Important

Getting the right amount of vitamins into your body is an important thing. When our bodies are lacking in certain vitamins, we can feel the effects. Here are some examples and natural supplements:

  • Calcium – helps to build strong teeth and bones, helps to reduce blood clotting, helps with muscle and nerve responses, and more. You can get a good source of calcium from blueberries, blackcurrant, boysenberries, dates, amaranth leaves, and butternut squash to name a few.
  • Vitamin A – helps to keep healthy skin and teeth as well as protects hair follicles. You can get a good source of Vitamin A from chestnuts, pistachios asparagus, broccoli, carrots, avocado, watermelon, tomato, as well as other fruits and vegetables that are dark in color.
  • Vitamin C – helps to keep hair follicles healthy, protects all of your cells, promotes healthy teeth and gums, and helps the body to absorb iron. Obtaining vitamin C naturally can be done by eating papaya, oranges, pineapple, strawberries, green peppers, kale, and sweet potatoes to start.
  • Vitamin E – helps in the formation of red blood cells and keeps hair follicles healthy and – strong. Some natural options for getting vitamin E include taro, seaweed, raspberries, pomegranate, almonds, brazil nuts, and hazel nuts.

These are just a few examples of vitamins that are needed in order to maintain a healthy body. Many of these vitamins can help with your hair, skin, teeth, and bones. Another thing to keep in mind is that many of these fruits, vegetables, and nuts contain protein which also contributes to a healthy body.

It is not always necessary to turn to supplements to get what your body needs to stay healthy. Remember that most everything that our body needs comes from nature. Look for the nutritional content of your favorite natural foods to see where you are getting what you need and to see where you may be lacking. As always, consult your physician if you are going to be making any changes to your diet, especially if you have health needs.
