I love coconut water and thought this could be a lesser expensive alternative. This come in at $0.69 per serving which is very cheap in comparison, but you should take into consideration the amount one serving is. It says it’s one tablespoon and add it to water, that could be 6oz or 24oz depending on your preference I guess. I’ve used as much as 24oz per 1 tablespoon! Not so much coconut flavor but I guess I’m trying to stretch it. Plus I drink more water when it doesn’t taste like water. Sometimes I just want a little different flavor in my water and this is perfect because I can control it and add just a little, well really I’m adding more water. Sometimes I want a stronger flavored product, or one with more electrolytes like after a workout or in the morning, so I use around 8-10oz of water per 1 tablespoon to achieve that.

As far as flavor goes, it is not as naturally sweet as others that are not dehydrated but it does give the water that smooth texture that I’m used to with coconut water. It’s tastes kind of like very plain, blah coconut water although I’m liking it better now that I’m getting used to it and it doesn’t seem so blah anymore.

I did not like the flavor the first time I tried it but after I sucked the glass down faster than I thought I would I decided maybe it wasn’t so bad. To give you an idea of what I was used to drinking, my favorite brands of coconut water are Amy & Brian and Vitacoco (unflavored version of both brands.

I decided to give 5 stars because
    1) what could I really expect from dehydrated coconut? This comes pretty darn close
    2) the price is cheaper than the alternative
    3) I will be buying it again
    4) less waste and storage space needed

Bottom line is don’t expect the same product you’re used to. If you have an open mind about it you’ll probably like it.

Decent flavor–bit salty, not very sweet. Big plus is the great convenience. Future pantry staple, methinks!, January 31, 2013

I love coconut water and have been drinking it since I was a kid, when the only way I liked it was from the coconut. When the explosion of coconut water in tetrapaks and cans came about a few years back, it was a boon to me. I’ve tried so many brands I’ve lost track, but in the past few months, I’ve settled into a few faves– Taste Nirvana and some raw version Whole Foods sells that totally tastes like it came out of a shell within minutes of purchase.

I bought this because I thought it would be good to add potassium and minerals to smoothies and to have on hand for when I wanted coconut water but ran out of cans. (Subscribe and save is a monthly thing and Whole Foods charges more than I wanna pay for my fave brand.) Since it’s organic, that’s a big plus.

Well, surprise. This is pretty darn pleasant.

Mixes very nicely and easily, too. And you can CUSTOMIZE, which I think is the bonus of reconstituting it yourself. For a stronger flavor, add more. Simple.

I’m not aware of the origin of the coconuts, but the flavor reminds me of South American coconut water as opposed to the Thai/Asian. It’s not that sweet and it’s a little salty, saltier than the Thai-origin brands I’ve enjoyed. Saltyish like O.N.E. and VitaCoco, but actually nicer than both those. Reconstituted, this baby’s better than some non-dehydrated brands. Imagine that! Surprised me, for sure.

I’ll definitely rebuy. This is a very handy thing to have in my pantry, cause I hate being out of coconut water.

This goes on my list, another Navitas product that satisfied this customer.

I’ve used this in smoothies, limeade, and even soup. Doesn’t have a strong flavor. Excellent idea, and great product. Also great for when someone has flu or cold and needs added nutrition in liquids.
