Help Support the Environmental Defense Fund to Help Win Global Warming Action

Environmental risks are causing deaths all over the world, in rich and poor countries alike – the worst part is that they are preventable. According to the World Health Organization, by reducing environmental risks, we could save 13 million lives worldwide every year. Environmental risks related to air and water pollution, ecosystem changes, UV radiation, climate change and noise pollution are impacting human health as a whole. And as the global warming trend continues to accelerate how badly will things get?

Warmer climates will increase the deaths from asthma, heat stroke and heart disease. But we are unaware of the extent of the problem and are completely unprepared for what's to come. A key finding from a public health survey released last year determined that even the slightest increase in these warming-related diseases could strain America's public health system beyond the breaking point.

"Future climate change could exacerbate a number of current health problems, including heat-related mortality, diarrheal diseases, and diseases associated with exposure to ozone and aeroallergens." – U.S. National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (03/18/2009)

Our time to hold back the swiftly accelerating warming trend is running out. We have little time left to curb this rising development. We can still make a difference and help the Environmental Defense Fund enact landmark cap and trade legislation. They are mobilizing every available resource to seize this historic movement.
